What is a Pilonidal Sinus?
A pilonidal cyst is a round sac of tissue that's filled with air or fluid. This common type of cyst is located in the crease of the buttocks and is usually caused by a skin infection.
Symptoms
A pilonidal sinus affects the natal cleft, which is the top of the crease of the buttocks, just under the tailbone.
Symptoms can range from mild to severe, depending on the level of infection. If people have a pilonidal sinus, they may have the following symptoms:

small dimple in the skin

irritation or discomfort

painful mass, which may be an abscess

drainage from the area, which may be a clear, cloudy, or bloody fluid

red, tender area
-
foul-smelling pus
-
fever
-
nausea
Treatment - Laser Surgery
Surgery is the most reliable method for treating and removing a pilonidal sinus, but it can come with possible complications, such as poor wound healing.
People will have a general anesthetic, and a surgeon will either cut out the sinus or open it up. Completely removing the sinus by cutting it out may lead to a better outcome in the long term, but the healing period may be longer.

This is the latest method of doing the treatment. In this method, a laser probe is used to clean the pilonidal sinus. All the infected tissue is removed. The walls of the tunnel are burnt or ablated from within with the help of laser probe.
The tissue dissection is very less. It is a cosmetically superior procedure.
Less number of follow-ups and dressing is required. The discomfort is far less and recovery time is faster

One can get back to daily routine within a span of two to three days after surgery.
